December challenge: hit 1M views on youtube. Here's what I figured out in the first week of the experiment
As you know, making money off content for corporations is literally my profession — when I'm not on maternity leave I run content analytics at Flo. Working as an analyst on a big team is super easy: I sit around in my pajamas, sip my little coffee, stare at the little numbers and message the editor-in-chief: this bit's good, this bit's bad, now go get creative and redo the whole thing from scratch. The editor-in-chief goes «Katya, damn, again?», sighs, vanishes into her magic cave, whoosh — and out comes great content. Metrics climb, money trickles in, I brew myself a fresh coffee. Time to find out what production magic was going on in that cave
Right now my husband, our baby and I are road-tripping around LatAm. And 'bet you can't turn this into a millionaire blog (better yet, two)' — that's the bet we made. Meet me: I'm now a producer of millionaire bloggers
Most of the blogging info online is ruthless infobiz — they'll sell you watered-down advice straight out of chatgpt. I'll be sharing practical lifehacks on how to grow a blog from scratch, subscribe
🟢Ok, insights from the first 10 days:
📈Metrics: 40k views, 70 subscribers, 2 days of a shadow ban with no impressions. This is just fire — growing on youtube from scratch right now is easier than on tiktok or insta
💡Takeaways: 1)Youtube is sensitive. The blog landed in a shadow ban because of too harsh a tone of voice — the hypothesis of chucking sh*t at the fan like on facebook doesn't work. Well, it does work, but with consequences! 2)The title and the first 2 seconds are the most important thing (like everywhere), after that you can film whatever. Like literally whatever, even just saying good morning to the camera 3)Coming up with a clickbait title is a specific genre of art, try delegating it. On my own blog it'd be harder for me to experiment! You know how it is, you start thinking «is this a good angle, does it look pretty». When really you just need to post as much as possible.
So what cool stuff do you know about youtube? How do you grow if you don't feel like copying mr beast? Share this post so more people read it and we gather more useful lifehacks
